Not too much going on with me right now since my show is done. Just working on some artist research for the paper and putting together my portfolio for senior seminar.

Senior Show

It's done : ) Things were very stressful that last week but it turned out great! All the long hours were worth it. The opening went really well. I decided not to use the glass in my frames and that turned out to be a great decision.

Only a few more days to go

I am nearly finished with everything for my show. I can start installing tonight. Hoping to get started on that while I'm still finishing these last two pieces this weekend. Just few little things to finish up.

This is now finished. I made some changes to the figure and and values since last time. I am pleased with how this turned out. I have one more in progress, should get it up here later today.

Moving Forward

I have mostly been focusing on developing a better value structure here.  The two I was working on before this have a lot going on and  I want to avoid that with this and try keeping it more simple without loosing all  the complexity and detail.

Some small changes and some big changes

 Just working on developing this figure at the moment. Not much else to say here right now.

I have been working with the elements I have already established in this one just moving them around and changing the layer order. I'm not sure yet what figures and things are going in this but that is probably my next step with this.

progress

 I am nearly finished this one. I am happy with the values now  I just want to make sure I am happy with the figure before I call it finished.

 I am close to calling this finished as well. Changing the lights and darks have added a lot to this. I am happy with the gesture of the figure but I am not convinced on the rest of it yet. I would like to have these two finished finished before break if possible.

Started the figure in this one. I like how it is moving with the other elements that I had already created and I think the gesture is working well. I still really like the colors and textures in this piece.

Also, I have revisited a few of my pieces from last semester. Awhile back I had added some charcoal to them, but I wasn't that happy with it. I thought I would try it again and I also used some chalk to enhance the colors and I am liking it this time. The chalk and charcoal have added mostly to the dark areas just to accent them a little.

I am happy with how these are going so far. I am trying to incorporate more similar elements from the first one I did with the solid layers of color and similar colors.

I'm still working on this figure too. I'm happy with the gesture I want to work on the body more so it's not so much of a cylinder form. The movement is working well. I want to create more of an overwhelming feeling by making the forms swirl around the form in a way. I want to work on the values more.

I lightened the face in the center so it wasn't competing with the other figures. I'm still working on some areas of the figure, mostly the hand/arm area. Hoping to be done with this very soon.

I ordered a few frames today. I was really nervous about them because they were very expensive but I'm pretty sure it will be worth it, should know in about a week. I have continued working on the same pieces I had for the critique and I have started on a third.

Getting Started

This is a piece I started last semester. I made a lot of changes to it since then. I liked things about this and didn't want to just give up on it. I think I worked out the things I didn't like before. I'm still working on the sketching elements but for the most part I think this is close to being finished.

New Semester

I am planning to continue with the same style I worked on last semester. I'm going to keep with the ideas of mental struggle and survival. I will continue to add sketches into each piece. To create the organic forms I plan to continue using manipulated photos and I would like to try scanned images and some different ways to create color and texture.
