progress

 I am nearly finished this one. I am happy with the values now  I just want to make sure I am happy with the figure before I call it finished.

 I am close to calling this finished as well. Changing the lights and darks have added a lot to this. I am happy with the gesture of the figure but I am not convinced on the rest of it yet. I would like to have these two finished finished before break if possible.

Started the figure in this one. I like how it is moving with the other elements that I had already created and I think the gesture is working well. I still really like the colors and textures in this piece.

Also, I have revisited a few of my pieces from last semester. Awhile back I had added some charcoal to them, but I wasn't that happy with it. I thought I would try it again and I also used some chalk to enhance the colors and I am liking it this time. The chalk and charcoal have added mostly to the dark areas just to accent them a little.

I am happy with how these are going so far. I am trying to incorporate more similar elements from the first one I did with the solid layers of color and similar colors.

I'm still working on this figure too. I'm happy with the gesture I want to work on the body more so it's not so much of a cylinder form. The movement is working well. I want to create more of an overwhelming feeling by making the forms swirl around the form in a way. I want to work on the values more.

I lightened the face in the center so it wasn't competing with the other figures. I'm still working on some areas of the figure, mostly the hand/arm area. Hoping to be done with this very soon.

I ordered a few frames today. I was really nervous about them because they were very expensive but I'm pretty sure it will be worth it, should know in about a week. I have continued working on the same pieces I had for the critique and I have started on a third.

Getting Started

This is a piece I started last semester. I made a lot of changes to it since then. I liked things about this and didn't want to just give up on it. I think I worked out the things I didn't like before. I'm still working on the sketching elements but for the most part I think this is close to being finished.

New Semester

I am planning to continue with the same style I worked on last semester. I'm going to keep with the ideas of mental struggle and survival. I will continue to add sketches into each piece. To create the organic forms I plan to continue using manipulated photos and I would like to try scanned images and some different ways to create color and texture.
