End of the semester

Overall this semester went well. I am happy with what I have done. I tried something new and pushed myself to experiment and I think I was successful. I am looking forward to next semester and building on what I have done so far.

Work in Progress

This is the latest one I have started. I am happy with the way the textures and colors are working together.

 At this point I think that these are my strongest. I like the way they are arranged and how the layers are working together. The first one especially has good textures and I am happy with the value structure.

At the moment I am thinking these are my weakest. I have struggled with them from the start. I think they are starting to come together. I like the movement that is happening in the first one. I have made changes to the hands in the second one and I think they are working much better now. I like the colors in the second one as well. It might be because I have not finished these yet but I just think they are missing something that the stronger two seem to have.

art and life

This week I have tried to take some time for myself. I have been stressed and I just needed to clear my head. I needed to do something that I would enjoy and not have to worry about classes and work. Spending some time with my friends and family helped and now I'm feeling better. Relaxing and stepping away from the stressed helped clear my mind and I think I can get back to working now. Sometimes all it takes is a little break.

This is what I have changed so far. I moved the person back to where it originally was and added more of the blue. I'm going to keep working on this and see where it goes.

I am finished with these on screen. I want to try drawing back into them with charcoal and see what that looks like.

I can't decide if this is finished. Sometimes I think it is and then I think it needs something else. I will try adding something to represent the human element because this is the only one so far that doesn't have that.

I added the hands to create the feeling of the struggle and to introduce the human element to this piece. Trying to decide if I should sketch them or leave them as photos. If I decide to leave them as photos I will use a different image.

My focus has been on finishing the sketch. I'm still thinking about adding more sketching in other areas of this but I still need to try it.

new things...

Just getting started on these. I'm going to try using different source materials in an attempt to avoid things getting so pixilated. I'm trying to keep with the fragmented pieces by using somewhat random selections and then manipulating them until I like it. I have thought of incorporating the sketching I have going in the first piece but I'm sure I want to have that in all of them after all.

Not much change

I'm still working on this. I haven't made too many changes to it since the last time. I have mostly been focusing on the sketch. It's taking longer than I expected it to mostly because I haven't done much with it before so I'm trying new and different things.

Just Starting

Just getting started on this. I'm not quite sure where I'm going with this yet but this is what I have so far.

Just starting on the drawing parts of this. I'm trying to find a way to fit it in. I am planning to add more areas with elements of drawing to this so it's not just the one drawn figure.

Ideas

Over the summer I took a class in Jewish Literature and was inspired by the will to survive. Even when faced with the most terrible situations people will fight to live. My plan is to deal with the theme of struggling and survival. I want to explore using my drawing tablet and incorporating drawing into my work.
